Lyrics
Letter Drop
©2014, Bar Scott
Eydie stopped believin’ when love had done her wrong
Her days alone, those nights were long
‘til the evenin’ she went eatin’ at the Letter Drop
He had steely, steady eyes
And a smile that made her sigh
Oh my! Deep inside
When he leaned in
Felt him breathin’
Made her wanna rhyme
So around and around and around she’d go in a circle
‘til she knew that she would never stop
She said, “Take my hand and I’ll show you how I dance,
Yeah, I know, it’s kinda slow,
but it’s evenin’ and we’re meeting at the Letter Drop.”
So around and around and around they’d go in a circle
‘til she knew that they would never stop
Then around and around and around they’d go in a circle
‘til they knew that they would never stop
And so Eydie and her Stevey
started meeting every evenin’ at The Letter Drop
I happened to be writing these lyrics and using the name Eydie the week that Eydie Gorme died so I changed the original male character’s name, Steely, to Stevie in honor of she and her husband, Steve.
