This is a great version of my song “I’m in Love” produced by Paul Opalach using vocals I did in 2014. Memphis-style, full band. Love it! “Fabulous!” Paul's playing all the parts except drums by my dear friend Mike Marble.
NOTES
I love this version of "I'm in Love" that Paul Opalach did on a free night in his Connecticut studio. It's a thrill to hear a song I wrote and sang produced in a whole different way. These are the exact same vocals I used in my version, just a whole new song. Love it! I hope you do too! Paul's playing everything except drums, which are played by my good friend, Mike Marble. Heaven (2015 Version With Strings)

    Heaven

    ©Bar Scott ASCAP   2000, 2015

Years ago I remember holding hands

    Running around and falling down

In circles then, the sun was shining everywhere

I remember my hand in your hand

And then I find that I remember holding you

In the grass in the meadow

And here I am, I’m on my knees

Looking to heaven so far away

    Searching for my way

    In love with you

The sun was shining down on my

    I remember just lying there

The sky was turning like a movie screen

Where the clouds roll in fast

And here I am I’m on my knees again

Looking for heaven, far, far away

So far that I can’t find my way

    When I am here

Roses are red, a violet’s blue

When I’m in love with you

    When I am here

    Ashes to ashes

    We all fall down

    And we get up again

    We all get up

I’m walking all the way to heaven

    Heaven here I come

I’m almost all the way to heaven

    Heaven turned away

    Why am I here?

Where roses are red and black

And no violet’s blue when I’m in love with you

    Why am I here?

    Ashes to ashes

    We all fall down

    And we get up again

    We all get up

    More (2015 Version with strings)

    More

    ©Bar Scott ASCAP 2006, 2015

More than the moonlight on Long Lake

or her water on my skin

    I love you more

than the sky as daylight breaks

from the darkness that was night

    glorious night!

the sound of waves and sand beneath my feet

As far as my eyes will ever see

    I love you more

than the joy of Christmas morning

and the lights up on the tree

    I love you more

than the colors of the night

when I close my eyes and my dreams come to life

In pouring rain with pools around my feet

and soft summer rain that cools the heat

    I love you more

    When winter comes

and water forms in sheets and icicles

    one snowflake falling

    a miracle in flight

and when the morning comes and all is white

    I love you more

With ocean waves and sand beneath my feet

    In all that I see

    You are to me

    I love you more

I Wave Bye Bye ©Jesse Winchester

    I Wave Bye Bye

    ©Jesse Winchester

Just out in the harbor, all the ships asleep

Maybe one cold watchman walks a lonely beat

And way-out on the water a ship is under sail

Leaving wavy starlight and a dreamer in her trail

I wave bye bye, I pray Godspeed

I wish lovely weather, more luck than you need

You'll only sail in circles so there's no need to cry

No, I'll see you again one day, and then I wave bye bye

The sailing ship reminds me of a certain girl

who left a certain dreamer to sail into the world

I've very friendly postcards from very far away

but they just remind me of a certain day

I wave bye bye, I pray Godspeed

I wish lovely weather, with more luck than you need

You'll only sail in circles so there's no need to cry

No, I'll see you again one day, then I'll wave bye bye

NOTES
Personal note from Bar: to date, I think this is the best work I've done. Love the arrangements, love the vocals, love the songs, GREAT players, and a fabulous time in the studio recording with Dave Cook. Highly recommended by me for you!

I loved making this record with my friend Peter Tomlinson. I'd moved from Woodstock, NY to Colorado so we sent tracks back and forth to one another over four years. It's the most collaborative recording I've made and the most fun. Lou Pappas played bass, Manuel Quintana and Gary Burke played drums.

NOTES
I grew up in a different church and I am not an active member of any faith, but I am moved deeply by the music of many spiritual traditions. I have learned most of what I know about music through hymns and anthems and this recording was a natural extension of my musical life. The hymns are beautiful and the three other singers I worked with are incredible talents - Matt Ulrich (tenor), Jim Ulrich (…
