"Parachute" (2006)
|
|
Parachute includes
13 songs: 12 originals and one cover. The record is another step
forward for Bar. Recorded at her home studio on her own piano, the CD
expresses love more than anything else. Many great musicians, arrangers
and engineers were involved in this recording including Tony Levin,
Jerry Marotta, David Sancious, Dave Cook, Kevin Bartlett, the string
quartet known as 'Ethel', Fred Hand, Jen Starr, Callie Hershey, Sam
Zucchini, Zoe B. Zak, Betty MacDonald, Larry Packer, Kirsti Gholson,
Jim Curtin, Julie Last, Professor Louie, Mike DeMicco, Sera Smolen,
and Troy Messinger. Together this incredible assemblage of
talent has helped to create what is a very warm and exciting collection
of new songs from Bar. In addition, Bar's husband, Peter Schoenberger,
took all of the photographs of Bar for the packaging; and the lyric
booklet includes some of his most wonderful and poignant photographs of
birds as well. Kate Boyer has taken Peter's photographs and created a
beautiful package for those of you who still want to have the entire
project in your hand. And we hope that you do!

"Grapes & Seeds" (2000)
|
|
Grapes and Seeds (2000) is the culmination of more than two years of studio
work and over 20 years of writing. The CD is full of vocal harmonies all
performed and recorded by Bar in her home studio. She performs exclusively on
piano on this recording, and is accompanied by performances by the
imcomparable Tony Levin on the bass and cello throughout the production, by
Gary Burke on drums for two songs, and by Abby Newton, cello, Jay Scott,
acoustic guitars, Anders Alfelt and Graham Maby on bass for single
performances. This CD has a feel that is uniquely the work of Bar Scott. If
you are discovering her for the first time, start here.

Confession" (1995)
|
|
A collection of 10 original songs and two covers, "confession" was
recorded primarily on acoustic instruments. Bar plays piano and guitar
and is supported by instruments ranging from french horn to viola to
accordion. Dirty Linen magazine said this about confession: "Bar Scott
has a deep, mellifluous voice...Without resorting to pretense, Scott
weaves lush and creative musical textures into her work. Confession is
a lovely piece of work... the stunning "Write Me a Love
Letter"...whose pure vocals build up to a glorious over-dubbed
crescendo...confession represents a welcome change of pace from the
usual singer-with-guitar fare". Take a listen...

"Silence is Broken" (1992)
|
|
Stereo Magazine (Germany) picked "Silence is Broken" as the Best New CD of the
Year in 1993. Released in 1992, "Silence is Broken" features Bar as
singer/guitarist in an ensemble format playing a wide variety of Bar's original
songs. The CD features "Oh Willy, Love is All" which was a minor hit in Germany.
(Rumor has it that bootleg copies of the entire CD are floating around in Taiwan!)

"Sweets for the Soul" The Live Concert
(2002)
|
|
Sweets for the Soul is Bar's first live recording and is the culmination of
8 years of live performances with outstanding background vocalists Jen Starr
and Erica Cohn. It has been a dream of theirs to do a live CD that would
record the magic that happens when they sing together.
A 65 minute video
capturing the best moments of
this live performance and
exclusive behind-the-scenes
footage is also available.

This CD is that dream come true. If you haven't had the opportunity to hear
Bar's music live, this is definitely the CD to buy. The three singers create
a very special something with their voices that was captured beautifully on
this 16 song CD. They are joined by Dorraine Scofield on mandolin, violin
and additional background vocals, and Anders Alfelt on acoustic bass. Ralph
Legnini adds guitars to three of the tracks while Fre Atlast (djembe) and
Joshua Pearl (piano) sit-in on one track each.
Engineered by David Cook who worked from a remote recording truck which
housed 32 tracks of digital recording gear. Mixed at The Clubhouse by Dave
Cook, and mastered by Larry Fast at Synergy. This is a GREAT sounding
record.

"A Little Dream" (2007)
|
|
A Little Dream is a recording that I've wanted to record for many
years. It's a collection of standards including "The Nearness of
You", "You Better Go Now", "I Wish I Didn't Love You So", "Dream a
Little Dream of Me", "For All We Know", "Since I Fell For You", "Two
for the Road", "Every Time We Say Good Bye", "It Might As Well Be
Spring", "Good Morning Heartache", "My Ship", "The Man I Love" and
"Where is Love?" Peter Tomlinson plays piano and Lou Pappas plays
upright bass. It's a simple trio that focuses on the song itself.
I've stuck pretty close to the original melodies and sing them like I
would have sung them if I wrote them myself. I love the record and I
love the songs. Over the years, many people have asked me to make
this record and I am really glad that I have. I hope that there are
more like this. I've learned a ton about how to sing by learning
these songs and I hope to learn more and more of them in the coming
years. I hope that you enjoy it!

"Liturgy" (2003)
|
Liturgy was recorded as a gift for my mother-in-law, Shirley Hyatt
Schoenberger who is a member of the New Church - a Christian organization
that is inspired by the life and work of 18th century mystic, Emmanuel
Swedenborg.

This CD is a collection of the hymns from that church's
so-called "Old Liturgy" which was published in 1966. These hymns are
beautiful and include words and music written by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Bach
and Beethoven as well as composers who grew up or lived with the richness of
this religion. I have loved learning these songs and have been very moved by
the whole experience of learning them and recording them. The hymns are
recorded in four parts - soprano (me), alto (Kirsti Gholson), tenor (Matt
Ulrich) and bass (Jim Ulrich). We are accompanied by Joshua Pearl on the
piano. It is a very simple recording and very true to the original
arrangements of the New Church Liturgy. If you love church hymns, I highly
recommend this CD. It is also the first recording that I have engineered and
produced on my own in my home studio.

Lo! The clouds have burst asunder
Father All Holy

Wake, awake!
Abide with me
Peace be to this congregation!
If thou but ask the Lord to guide thee
O Lord who gave our fathers sight
Lord, look down from heav'n on us
Lead us and guide us, Lord
The Lord is my shepherd
Come unto me
Lord, let me pray'r be set before thee
Heavenly Father
Lord we pray thee draw Thou near us

Great Folk Songs to Sing Along With"
|
|
In 1992, my friend Pat Bergeson and I put together a great collection of
folk songs that we affectionately called Great Songs to Sing Along With.
Pat's a great guitarist and we had a great time putting
this together
so we
were very happy with the results.
We sold a bunch of cassette copies and
gave a lot away as gifts, and then many years later, I decided to add a few
more songs and make it into a sing-along coloring book
for kids.
Over time,
people asked me if the coloring book tape was available on CD and I always
had to say 'no'. Recently, however, I got it together to re-master the
songs, delete a couple of the songs I'd added for the coloring book version,
and put it out on CD. It's a really good collection, I think. My friend Jay
Scott came on board to add a few more songs to the collection, and all
together, I think it's worth your having it. Songs include "Oh, Susanna",
"The Water Is Wide", "Home on the Range", and "America the Beautiful".

"Great Christmas Songs to Sing Along With"
|
|
"Rave Tesar is my favorite piano player!" That's what Bar was thinking when
she asked Rave if he would like to do a Christmas recording in July of 1996.
He said 'yes' and this album is the result of that collaboration. Rave has
arranged all of the music and has created quite a variety of styles, unique
and traditional, for some of our favorite Christmas songs. Included are "The
First Nowell", "Dona Nobis Pacem", "Silent Night", and "Joy to the World", and others. (13
songs total)

"Sweets for the Soul" (2002) The Live Concert (VHS Video)
(other formats available, see below)
|
Never thought I'd see the day when a video of
a Bar Scott show would be available, but here
it is. Filmed on June 8th, 2002 at the
Colony in Woodstock, NY, this video captures
the fun and the intensity of Bar's live
performances.

|
If you haven't been able to catch Bar's show live, then you
need to see this video. She and Jen and Erica have been singing together in
concert for over 8 years and they create something pretty special in their
shows together. The three of them are joined by Dorraine Scofield on vocals,
mandolin, and violin; Anders Alfelt on bass; Ralph Legnini on guitar, Joshua
Pearl on piano and Fre Atlast on djembe.
The video features concert footage and the music from Bar's Live CD, Sweets
for Soul, as well as backstage interviews, portraits and impromptu
performances. It's one hour and 5 minutes in length and very full of great
moments. Check it out.

This video is in VHS format. Other international
formats are available at an additional cost. Please
